Good luck, Shamila Batohi

The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (OUTA) welcomes the stabilisation of the National Prosecuting Authority with the appointment of advocate Shamila Batohi as the new National Director of Public Prosecutions.

South Africa has waited years for an independent, brave chief prosecutor who stands unequivocally for justice.

“We wish Advocate Batohi the best of luck in taking this battered but crucial institution forward, in restoring the confidence of both its staff and the public in the NPA, in overcoming the factionalism in the NPA and in reinstating the ethic of targeting criminals rather than whistleblowers,” says OUTA CEO Wayne Duvenage.

“We are encouraged by her willingness to take on the powerful who sought to hijack our country and her promise of independence. We look forward to the National Prosecuting Authority becoming an institution of which we can be proud.”

OUTA is a proudly South African civil action organisation, that is purely crowd funded. Our work is supported by ordinary citizens who are passionate about holding government accountable and ensuring our taxes are used to the benefit of all South Africans.
