Purpose 

The Community Action Network (CAN) is a community empowering initiative by the Organization Undoing Tax Abuse (OUTA).

Our aim is to bring local communities together, organise them, and help them coordinate their efforts to drive meaningful change in their local municipalities through a collective voice. We believe that every community has the potential to make a difference, and we’re here to provide the tools and support they need to do just that. By working together, we can make a positive impact not only in our own communities but also beyond them.

Joburg Community Action Network (JoburgCAN), an initiative of OUTA, strives for world class service delivery by those employed to serve the residents and businesses of Johannesburg.

We provide: 

• Oversight of the city’s fiduciary duties & responsibilities

• Run strategic campaigns and action on high impact issues

• Engage with city officials on pertinent issues

• Assist Community Associations with their development, -Build networks and relationships between communities 

• Facilitate Activation teams for city improvement
