OUTA welcomes Mokgoro Commission findings

The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (OUTA) welcomes the recommendations by the Mokgoro Commission to have Advocate Nomgcobo Jiba and Advocate Lawrence Mrwebi removed from their positions at the National Prosecuting (NPA).

According to the commissions’ report the two advocates fell short in upholding their ethical obligations in the spy tapes saga that saw the sacking of former KwaZulu Natal, Hawks boss, Johan Booysen.

“Once again this is a positive outcome of the spotlight that OUTA and other civil society organisations have placed on state capture. Removing individuals who played a part in reducing trust in our justice system not only vindicates those who were wronged during the Zuma administration, but is also pivotal in strengthening our democracy,” says Rudie Heyneke OUTA’s  Portfolio Manager for State Capture.

OUTA urges President Ramaphosa to act swiftly and implement the recommendations of the Commission.

OUTA is a proudly South African civil action organisation, that is purely crowd funded. Our work is supported by ordinary citizens who are passionate about holding government accountable and ensuring our taxes are used to the benefit of all South Africans.
