OUTA working on serious issues
We are aware that Rand Water have reduced the water pressure to your municipality and that Eskom has also given notice to start load shedding in due course.
These serious issues, along with the decline in other service delivery matters (waste removal, sewage, potholes etc) and is the direct result of your Local Municipality’s inability to manage your rates and taxes with the efficiency and transparency required of them. In short, they are grossly out of line and need to be held accountable.
As you are aware, the Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (OUTA) is setting up its structures in your municipality and we have already started the process by engaging with the authorities at both the local and provincial level, to address the gross lack of accountability. We have gathered the evidence required to prove that the officials in GMM and the Province have not taken the necessary steps to manage the municipal finances efficiently or to develop the financial recovery plans.
As much as we would like to stop these disruptions today, unfortunately it is a process. Our legal team is assessing various options to force the drafting of the GMM financial recovery plan. It is important to know that once the Financial recovery plan for GMM has been compiled, the Municipal Manager MUST ensure that the plan is adhered to, paving the way to holding those in authority to account.
Without the financial support of residents within the GMM area, our efforts will be limited. We still need as many people as possible to join OUTA and contribute to these efforts, be it R100 per month, more, or even less. Whatever you can afford, it is essential that people contribute toward the work required to fix this town. Contribute now by clicking here.
The only way to achieve good service delivery in your town, is to have an organised plan to hold your local government to account. This is what OUTA can and will bring to GMM.
